Pile- o- panels.

few more panels removed. Rear inner fender wells are very inact as far as the metal is concerned. I know it is not very pretty, but I am generally happy at what I am uncovering. There has so far been a fair amount of bad bodywork exposed, but it should still result in not a lot more work than if it was done right the first time. I have to keep reminding myself that this was a $200 car in the mid 60's. That it was preserveed at all is astonishing.

More photos showing left rear fender removed. Bottom two photos show the rear of the boot toneau. The metal is all there- it's just been reinstalled about a half inch form where it is needed.

Removed the left rear fender and found some interesting panel work. Door latch pillar and shut panel should not come off with the fender. The pillar and shut panel were riveted to the fender rather than being welded to the sill as required. In order to stabalize the latch pillar, there were two chains that were attached from the frame to the sill. Rust, as expected, is in the sills and latch pilar posts on both sides.

Some cleaned up bits: bonnet latch, accelerator pedal, floor-mounted jack hole plates, bottom portion of bonnet latch.

Fuel pump exploded. Was full of gunk similar to gas tank, but is cleaning up well. Needs new gaskets, points, and mounting studs.
